Growing up with new wave, punk, ska and hip hop playing around the house Joe’s tastes were already made up as a youngster. Through the years he developed a penchant for the weird, the wonderful and anything that delivered that cool vibe. Drawn to electronic music for its abstract nature and heavy sub-content, he soon found minimal and there the infatuation began.
Something about the context it provides - the rhythmic backbone, over which to tell the story, really caught his ear. Couple that with experimental sound design and synthesis you really have something good going there. Joe has been tweaking his way through the genre finding his feet as a DJ and producer delivering slick and stripped-back sets and tracks that really get down to the barebones of the music.
With various releases as Joe Highet, including a track on Edinburgh-based vinyl outfit Etiket (of which the label owner has done a mix for Earworm), Joe has decided to consolidate his new works under his new alias “Eosap”.
The mix he has provided us is a genre fluid, hard to pin down collection of strange, weird and wonderfully odd music that perfectly encapsulates Joe's eclectic and interesting taste.
